A blog post for CEOs
A mini test for your friendly CEO. Feel free to pass along.
Please answer the following:
- How many of your employees are writing a blog?
- How many of them do you read?
You should be reading them all.
Note: If you couldn't answer the first question then you may soon have a problem.

Do you really mean that for the second question?
For some companies I could imagine that to be a quite big job, almost a full time job. I don't know how many MS bloggers are out there, I've got the feeling quite a few. I doubt that Steve Ballmer would find time for much else if he were to read them all. In particular if Scoble has been busy again. Other large high tech companies possibly look similar.
Also why should the CEO of the company I work for read my blog? I hardly ever mention anything work related on it (and have no intention to), so why would he care? Apart from one or two mentions of my employer quite a while ago (which I wouldn't do any more) I don't mention who I work for because as far as I'm concerned it has nothing to do with my blog even though I don't keep it secret who I work for. I'm sure quite a few others view that similarly.

Difficult. On the one side I'm sure reading between the lines of employee blogs probably gives you more insight into your company than many "traditional" forms of information but of course Armin is right about the time it would take in large companies.
